"Red Tails" due out 1/20/12, do not get in my way.
I just hope they don't make it so over the top it looks like the Red Tails defeated Germany single handed.
-----
Saw "Red Tails", the hero gets killed ! whaaaaaaa waaaa almost a tear-jerker
Great movie about great men. Surprised to learn 66 Tusk' men died. I thought only 5 or so.
-----
Some Catherine Puig reported that the movie should of went behind the scenes to learn more about the
men and stuff they went through to earn their wings. Lucas spent 2 hrs with the most exciting parts he could use to make a great movie. He inserted the perfect amount of fluff to make the perfect war movie.
------
In fairness it should be noted that Eleanor Roosevelt and other prominent females pushed for the success of
the 332 AAF

Every time I watch this I keep thinking they poo-who'd the P-40 Warhawk. Made famous by the The Flying Tigers group
that served in China while Japan was raping it back in ~1942. Hand me down etc. But in war if you don't have the most
advanced equipment you lose. Ask the Poles and Russians how their planes did against the '09s at the start of WW11.

Line me up for "Battleship".
A Battleship can throw a shell the weight of a car 5 miles.
Step into that transformer. The indentation and the blast.
Luscious damage.

"Battleship" was fair but misleading. The Battleship hardly saw action. And the Battleship used was a Museum piece.
Luckily it was loaded with live shells and powder-packs.

"Prometheus", is pretty good. I was blown away. I'll need to see it again just to trip out on it.
B-movies "American Warships" and "Goon" starring Melvin Peeples and some guy whos name I don't remember, respectively get a thumbs up.
------------
About Prometheus, I've seen a couple reviews about it and people are all over the place about what it means or enfers about mans beginnings.
It's a movie--its about action--thrills--and cleaning up/updating the "Aliens" series. You know how that blew us all away !
But now we have evil physically superior caucasian clones trying to kill everyone. I know where they are going with this. The movies will be fun again.

"Take Shelter" is a made for DVD release that might get a sequel.
I barely give it a thumbs up, just to see where they go with that.
update:6-19-13
Micheal Shannon the male lead here now plays the bad guy in Superman.

"Fortress" is out on DVD, I give it a thumbs up.
Nice tracer effects. Decent story.
One complaint: The Fortress gets attacked by 6, "09s" and doesn't get a scratch. What the heck !

Drag me to Hell
is pretty crazy
This nasty old immigrant women puts a hex on a well meaning young girl and just ruins her life.
There's something about woman on women vomiting in the mouth...
I'm sure this is a modernized version of an older movie.

Django
Now I need a bathroom break in the middle of all movies. I know I shouldn't drink first !
*
"Django Unchained" :
I gotta call foul ! I only go to movies to be entertained, apparently seeing people get blown away does this, I'm sorry to say.
I call foul due to historic and vile nature of human on human atrocities ! Is what we saw in Django true.?
I believe it ?!
So now a few actors and movie makers make a good living selling that horror.
Mankind you are a slow learner !
*
With the mass shooting we've seen lately, people want to throw the gun under the bus. With the leadership of "Manifest Destiny" and the atrocities wrecked upon the indigenous American and the effectiveness of the gun, I see no turning back !

I watched "Unforgiven" again. Great western that was worth a second watch.
From my younger days: "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" and
"The Great Race".
Cheech and Chong's "Up in Smoke" I think that's the one where Chong needs to go to the bathroom but the toilet hasn't been flushed in years and the shit is rising above the rim !!!!!
The camera came in for a toilet-seat level shot. The lazy filth just kept packing crap upon crap after the toilet plugged.

Rewatched Warren Beatty's, "Dick Tracy". How, with all the weird faces in the comic and the movie, why didn't Warren wear a Dick Tracy make-up ?
Dick Tracy in all the comics has a very distinct beaked nose. And where was "Half and Half" ?
Nice call with the "two way wrist radio".

Godzilla

Looks phoney, a less is more peep show.
I want a monster that strikes in broad daylight and just starts wrecking stuff.
Not a snapshot here and a minute later another .5 second peep.
----------------------------
Saw Zilla, not bad. Zilla has to fight a couple of giant insects that are trying to procreate. Because they eat radio active stuff they can create an ElectroMagneticPulse that can shut down power grids.

"The Mighty 8TH"
Looks like a wicked sequel to "The Memphis Bell".
You can get very gnarly with what 50 caliber bullets do to flesh. Especially if you get hit with 5 or 6.
I know this glorifies horrific deaths of humans. Wicked !
What happened to this movie ? I never saw it. I think it went straight to HBO...

A Million Ways to die in the West
Got some embarrassing laughs with it's "out of the box", humor. For instance, by breaking wind you could die by way of some "needle farts" ?!
Anyway you hear a guy break wind and then he says,"aaarrrggggh, that came out my penis" !
----------------------------------
Sarah Silverman looks 45. aaaarrrgggh

"Into the Storm"

Surprised I didn't do a preview on this. Still haven't seen it. So I got a stormchasers view from StormTrack.org.
by James Caruso

I knew that "Into the Storm" would not be authentic, but still I was really looking forward to seeing it. There seemed to be a lot of cynicism among us about this movie prior to its release, but come on - storm chasing is what we love, so how could it not be a great thing to be able to see a mainstream Hollywood movie depicting chasing on the big screen, however ridiculous, campy and comic-book-like that depiction might be??? I even thought seeing the movie with my wife was some small way to share my love for chasing with her - far easier than getting her to sit through my chase vacation videos!

Having seen the movie, I guess I have to say it was generally as I expected - lots of silliness and not a faithful representation of chasing by any means. And the acting was somewhat flat with no compelling human angle or character development, but like Stephen Henry said above, I wasn't there for that anyway! But still fun to watch something chaser-centric for an hour and a half on a Sunday evening.

Not to "bitch about the movie" but it is fun to point out some of the silliness. Again, not that I expected it to be authentic, but it's still fun to talk about - like analyzing a sports game to death afterwards:

1. Allison seems almost surprised when a very large tornado watch comes out - it almost appears as if that's her very first inkling it is going to be a big day

2. Multiple references to the "system" expanding and increasing the threat. To me a "system" is a synoptic reference. What does it mean to be "expanding"??? If you're talking about an expansion of storm coverage, then that decreases the likelihood of a discrete supercell with a violent long-track tornado. In at least one instance, "system" seemed to be used to refer to a supercell, which I do not think is appropriate nomenclature.

3. Chase team almost seems surprised to find large hail falling on them while they are jerking around back at their hotel retrieving some equipment left behind. Are you chasing a storm or not?!? How would you be surprised to find that hail is coming down, as if it just happens to be a pocket of large hail coming out of some stratus-form precipitation!

4. In numerous scenes, the characters are out running around in debris fields. Trees and cars flying everywhere, yet the characters are impervious to any of the shrapnel. Same goes for the vehicles; the "Titus" was supposed to be a tank, so fair enough - but the radar truck was following right behind, somehow also impenetrable to the flying debris.
