I would say the season is over after 7 losses
I lost the pic of Tron getting punked by Cam when the forum was updated.
Not gonna find it again.

I thought Washburn was a good Oline coach.
But these guys are barely fighting.
They could drop to one knee with forearms making a shield with fists together about torso high.
And if the guy rolls inside or outside you could drive him that way.
But Stafford barely knows how to drop-back. Geezs man find some time to throw.

With 'Hew as the first non-white GM in Lions history I wanted him to get a fair shake.
After seeing and living thru the Russ Thomas dark age of 15 yr of crap football. 14 straight losses to the Vikes !
And Matt Millen's 7 yr of crap football.
So 'Hew got almost 7 yr. not too bad. 2 P/O seasons and we got to see one of the best defenses ever built.
But it took the firing of a coach to get to that great defense. [Schwartz's "Wide-9" wasn't good enough]
And the firing of Lewand and 'Hew by Martha Ford maybe wasn't a bad thing.
But I think it was the perfect storm of injuries, loss of talent and failure to rebuild those losses in one off season,
that doomed 'Hew.
He tried to replace 2 top ten picks with Haloti Ngata and Tyunn Walker. Not bad, but Ngata didn't practice due to a hamstring all preseason and Tyrunn
got his leg snapped on a dirty play by the Seahawks ! At least partly dirty on the Seahawk !
Add in the fact the best 4-3 LB in the league couldn't play at all due to a hip injury and that defense couldn't stop a college team.
I already mentioned the RT issue prior.
So they start the season 0-5 and are now 1-7, lights out all.
I figured a little drop off in D play but these guys had no chance even with T.Austin.

WTF ! Lions beat Pack in Whiskey for the first time in 23 yr !
-
So now they want to play ?
I have no idea what is going on. Pack was in a little slump but WTF ?!
-
The D shows up again and choke out the "Da Raidas" 18-13
Next they do the Eagles 45-14, Staff has a QB rating 138 his best ever !
Even if they win out I doubt they make the P/Os
Still it's nice for Martha Ford to get the fans a winning season.

---Mr. Jim Caldwell the Detroit Lions Head Coach

"It's great to have him back," Caldwell said. "Unfortunately, he didn't get a job, and I know it's tough for him ... and it's something he would really like to have happen. It's his heart's desire, and I think it's going to happen at some point in time. But in the meantime, we have a guy back with us that has done as fine a job adjusting to circumstances (as anyone), in terms of using our personnel. And those guys give him a chance to really do what we do best -- help us stop the run. And when you stop the run, you have an opportunity to obviously put some pressure on the outside with Ziggy in the pass rush.
*- J.C. talking about getting back Tyrell Austin after job hunting.-*
He is just so fortunate to hire these great assistant coaches and could lose his job if these guys get snatched up by other teams.
Because great Dcoord's don't grow on trees.
[they'll steal JimBob too] as of 7-2018 J.B. Cooter still with Lions
Forget his hearts desire ! Pay them to stay. That's why you lost your job, you were so accommodating.

2018 season
-
So this is Bob Quinn's 3rd season, second draft.
It looks like Martha is demanding better results. And maybe meddling a little too much.
Bob has been investing in the offense to better improve their fairly good QB, Matt Stafford.
Not a bad idea but the Lions might still be soft up the middle. Last season the Lions lost
Haloti Ngata to injury half-way through the season. They were giving up 75 yd per game
rushing before the injury. They gave up 130 yd per game after. That's at least 4 more 1st downs
and maybe 3 minutes of time of possession ! And he wasn't replaced. The draft gave us a 4th
rounder named Hand but will he be ready ? It's pretty sure the new coach from the Pat's org.
will install a 3-4 maybe the Lions first attempt at this defense. Only a couple teams still run
the 4-3.
I think Quinn's done a good job up til now with FA like Marvin Jones and Blount.
Matt Patricia has to win now. Or maybe blow our socks off with a #1 offense or defense---no excuses !
-------------------------------------------------------
I'm thinking Stafford is what he is, a P/O quality QB with no P/O wins. Good enough to get you there
but not good enough to best other P/O teams. NO EXCUSES !

Philly at Dallas
12-9-2018
first play Dallas fumbles, you see the ball go between a Eagles knees. Later an Eagle gets up with the ball.
The play is challenged and ref after review says, " the ball was fumbled but unclear about the recovery".
The ref and the guys upstairs need to be suspended for 4 games at least !

- Kaepernick, Colin -
-

Amazing how he got the entire NFL community to eat out of his hand.
I wonder if, at the start, he knew what the end game would be.
Because the NFL just paid him to go away. The flag vs the people
is an interesting dilema. This country has only gotten better over
time. Well, kind of. The history of every country is tainted with
evil behavior.
--- Imagine the consternation of the fans if Colin was a starting QB leading
his team to wins when this happened ?! They'd be like, "Well let's give the kid a break."
What no one seems to exclaim is, Jim Harbaugh was the coach that made Colin.
When Harb's left he went straight down hill. A little like the Belicic/Brady combination.
Too bad Harb's hasn't figured out the BIG. He was great at Stanford.

Well I officially became a Chiefs fan this year.
Nothing to gripe about there, just great football.
The Lions experiment with Quinn and Matt Pat. is over.
I hope they can move Stafford. Let him hang around as a backup for some team
while he still has value.
Maybe the next coach will see the Tayson Hill experiment in N'oleans is the way to go.
But carry 4 of them. And any offensive back that can't throw the football wouldn't be in my backfield.

I see guys trailing the ball carrier in a foot race and they try to sweep the runners foot to tackle him.
[And they just step/jump out of it]
What they should do is when the runner steps forward you dive and when his heel comes up catch it
in either hand and push it toward the other leg. This will turn him around or trip him, race over.

Stafford trade
-
I wonder if the trade will play out like how Philly does it's QBs ?
Trade a good QB then get him back a couple of years later. Probably cheaper and more groomed.
So Rams give a 3rd and 2 1st rnd picks to Lions. If Goff dogs it the Lions could cut him and maybe
the Rams save a 1st rnd pick.
A good young QB for an old good QB. Something is afoot ?

Partially un/accurate :
First read, Rams gain small financial windfall. Maybe less than $12M over 2 yr.
Then someone said "Contract value is $123M" ! He was owed $43M guaranteed. But that was over 2 years.
But his salary was $26M per. Does the trade kick in the guaranteed $43M ? Total $69M over 2 yr !
So that's trade value ?!
So Rams are only on the hook for ~ $44M over 2 years.
Why would they put so much on top ?
And now they are talking $37M for Dak P.

Covid 19 and strains
-
Hard to believe we are going on 2 full years of fighting this.
We must keep our economy going - we are garbage with out it.
I respect what the major leagues have done regarding safety.
But now we see unvaced players testing positive and blowing games because of it.
K. Cousins is bad example. Not vaced, now he misses a chance for a needed win
in the division.

The NFL is a lie !
-
40 yr ago when I learned pro football I knew it couldn't deal with a running
mobile QB. And there was the usual misgivings. He would get hurt too easily. [truth]
Or he couldn't throw well enough.
Smart QBs know when to scramble. Keep the drive going with run out of the pocket.
So they fixed the rules to enable mobile QBs. Started the hook side and no power
tackling around the knees of the QB.

- We the fans need to punish Goodell's NFL for what happened in Dallas. -

Can we agree the league has no integrity !? The refs can subvert a win with impunity. Goodell won't do a correction. So he's the problem, an empty shirt.
